My name is Taylor, and I am a 22 year old personal trainer and nutrition junkie. I started my health and fitness journey in March of 2012, and it’s been quite the experience. I started creating my own recipes, and then started this blog to be able to share them. I’ve pretty much done it all when it comes to dieting. I’ve done clean eating, IIFYM, bodybuilding diets, severe calorie restriction, intermittent fasting, carb cycling, you name it. I’ve researched up and down and learned from some of the best, and really have been led to one important conclusion about food: eating fat will not make you fat, but will make you burn fat instead. This realization changed my life, got me out of an eating disorder, and led me to finally get the results I’ve been searching for. So I changed the name of this blog to “Not So Fat”, cleaned it up and got rid of the recipes and things from when I thought I knew what I was doing, and said hello to a new lifestyle that I honestly love and enjoy, and that gets me results effortlessly. 

Working in the fitness industry, I cannot tell you how many times a day I hear “I eat really healthy” followed by a list of high-carbohydrate, processed, sugary junk-food that is marketed to us as “healthy”. I totally understand, trust me I was there too: eating ungodly amounts of “healthy” carbs and limiting my fat intake for fear that I may get fat, only to screw up my hormone function. I lost my menstrual cycle, had a severe decrease in performance, became depressed, and got fatter. All of this happened while exercising more. It didn’t make sense to me so I was determined to find the answer. Through working with one of the BEST dietitians around Nutrition Vixen, and listening/reading from experts like Dave Asprey, Ben Greenfield, Jimmy Moore, Shawn Stevenson, and many others, I was able to educate myself on the importance of healthy fat intake and incorporate it into my life. I certainly have tons and tons to learn, and I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert or even considered “highly knowledgable” on the subject, but I am determined to never stop learning and never stop sharing!
